Formal dress for your bodyshape!

How to find a formal dress to suit your body shape

Formal events can be majorly stressful because everybody wants to look their best.  People splash the cash because we all there will be tons of photos taken on the night. Not all dresses suit every body type, it is crucial that you know your body type. All body shapes can look great it just depends on how you dress them
Here are is a list of all main different body shapes
Pear: Torso and upper body smaller than your hips with waist definition
Rectangle: Torso and upper body are the same width as your hips - little waist definition
Hourglass: For women with this body type, the bust and hip are approximately the same size, and the waist is narrow
Apple: Torso and upper body wider than your hips - with little or no waist definition. You might have weight surrounding your waist.

The Hourglass figure

I would consider myself to have an hourglass figure. If you have an hourglass figure, you want to try to draw attention to your waist. If, like me , you are short (I am 5'2) you want to definitely avoid dresses with a lot of material, as they will overwhelm your figure.

I went to a ball last week week, here's what I wore. I choose this dress because it has a defined waste line and because of the bright colour. If you are quite pale, you cannot under any circumstances get away with wearing white. Wearing  brighter colours will ensure you don't look washed out.

Pear shaped body

If you have this type of body, you should draw attention to your flat stomach and your small waist and shoulders. You want to avoid drawing attention to your hips.

How can this be achieved? Strapless dresses are ideal for apple shaped bodies as they will show off one of your best assets- shoulders.

Apple shaped body

If you have this type of figure, you want to avoid dresses that draw attention to your stomach.

A dress with a waist band can be a good option.

Ruffles can act as a good camouflage away from the stomach.

Rectangle

Halter neck dresses look great on this body shape as they show off your elongated back.

High necklines also work well if you have a small bust.

Let me know what body shape you have and how you dress it!
